Dinner as Usual

As usual, the Nutrisystem meal fall waaaaaaay short of looking anything like the package and pretty short on the taste evaluation. Jill gave the BBQ Sauce Over Beans and Rice a 4+ and added it to the list of items to make sure don't get sent with the next shipment.

I had a Lean Cuisine Chicken Parmesan with Broccoli, Fettuccine Pasta and Apple Caramel Crisp. I expected the chicken to be processed, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was whole breast meat. It was a decent tasting patty. The broccoli was actually delicious and the fettuccine was passable. After finishing it, I was looking forward to the caramel apple crisp. One taste and my hopes were dashed to bits. It was by far the worst part of the meal. I passed it up and it dropped the meal score from a 7 to a 6.

Between meals, I've been hitting the fridge and nibbling on cucumber slices, celery chunks and green pepper wedges that I cut up and put in water. I had forgotten how much I used to like doing just that growing up on the farm as a kid.

I actually like the taste of most NutriSytem foods. I've found, though, that I do not like the scrambled eggs or anything else that comes in the cardboard cups. The dinners and lunches tend to taste way better than anything I can cook (not much of a cook here). BUT...I absolutely cannot tolerate NutriSystem's substitutions. My last order contained 36 items I never would have ordered -- in fact, did not order -- and will not eat. None of the items I most looked forward to receiving arrived. Can you imagine buying a Lexus and the salesman delivers a Ford instead and calls it an acceptable substitution? That's how I feel about some of this stuff they've sent me. For that reason, I've stopped my auto shipments and am buying exactly what I want on eBay. You just have to check the expiration dates on eBay items ...deal only with trustworthy sellers. I've sold my unwanted items there. Good luck on your diet. I lost 13 pounds the first month and am still losing.

The food I was sent tasted like cardboard but when I ate the box, it seemedt any flavor in the food went into the packaging maybe by osmosis.

Clelia, good luck with your diet. Jill and I went on weight watchers in January after gaining back what we lost here. I like their diet much better. Basically, it boils down to portion control and eating as many fruits and vegetables as you like. I went from 173 to 150 in three months and have had absolutely no problem maintain the loss.
